The Electric Bug Swatter uses a powerful zap to kill most insects, while we haven't had specific feedback regarding horse flies, I would imagine it would deliver enough of a shock to kill them.

Hey Michael,
The Electric Bug Swatter has a good zapping power, but it's designed more for flies, mozzies and smaller insects. Hornets can be pretty robust, I wouldn't recommend trying to swat one with the swatter.

The handle of the Electric Bug Swatter houses the battery and can be removed by unscrewing it from the racket. You can replace this handle if the battery has died out on the Electric Bug Swatter.
