According to scientific research, there are said to be more than 300 different species of mosquito inhabiting Australia. So, as you can see, the term “Australian mosquito” is very broad and covers a lot of different species. Out of 300 or more known species, only a select few are considered to be a major problem for Australians; the ones that can spread disease. Apart from that, mosquitoes are mostly just highly annoying. The average Australian mosquito has a lifespan of only around 2 to 3 weeks, they are prolific breeders anywhere that still bodies of water are present.
