Mosquitoes

You may not catch Malaria or yellow fever in Australia, but you can catch Ross River Virus, Barmah Forest Encephalitis, Dengue Fever, Japanese Encephalitis virus infections.  The bites can be painful, itchy, and irritating.

Ticks

Ticks can be found in wooded or forested areas. When they get hungry for blood, they crawl up the leaves of plants and attach to passing people or animals.  Ticks transmit a number of dangerous diseases such as Tick-borne EncephalitisSpotted fever, and Lyme Disease.

Sandflies

Sandflies are tiny insects sometimes called “no see ums”.  They are also midges.   These tiny little devils spread sand fly fevers and a serious disease called leishmaniasis.

Leeches

Even though they are not usually the same as biting insects, leeches are just “yuk”.  Scientific tests in leech-infected areas prove that Mosi – guard is also a very effective leech repellent.
