How to Use Yates Seed Raising Mix
Yates Mini Greenhouse Ideal
For optimal results, consider using Yates Mini Greenhouse in conjunction with Yates Seed Raising Mix.
Raising Seed in Containers
- Fill and Moisturize: Fill the container with Yates Seed Raising Mix, leaving 1cm below the rim. Ensure the mix is moist.
- Level and Firm: Level and gently firm the mix.
- Seed Placement: Space seeds as directed.
- Cover and Water: Lightly cover with a thin layer of Seed Raising Mix. Water with a fine mist to avoid dislocating seeds.
- Positioning: Place in a lightly shaded or dappled sun position. Cover fine seeds with glass or plastic for consistent temperature and moisture.
- Germination and Transplanting: Once germinated, remove the covering and gradually move into stronger light. Keep moist but not wet. Transplant seedlings when ready.
Propagating Cuttings
- Prepare Mix: Fill a pot or tray with moist Yates Seed Raising Mix.
- Select Cuttings: Choose fresh cuttings from healthy plants.
- Prepare and Insert: Prepare cuttings, trim as needed, and make a hole in the mix. Dip the cut end in Yates Cutting Powder, insert into the hole, and gently firm.
- Enclose and Maintain: Water well, and enclose in plastic or glass to maintain humidity and warmth. Avoid the cover touching leaves.
- Positioning: Place in a warm, well-lit area (avoid direct sun). Keep moist but not wet.
- Root Formation and Gradual Hardening: Once roots form, remove the cover and gradually harden off.
