Stealth Miticide and Insecticide!

Stealth Miticide and Insecticide offer robust control of a wide range of mites and insect pests, making them a critical tool for protecting a variety of crops. Formulated with Abamectin, it penetrates leaves quickly to provide a lasting defence against pests through ingestion by sucking mites.

Active Ingredient:  18g/L Abamectin

Key Features

  • Broad Spectrum Control: Stealth is highly effective against a wide range of mites and insect pests which makes it versatile for use in various agricultural applications.
  • Active Ingredient: Contains Abamectin, which is known for its rapid action on pests’ central nervous systems, causing paralysis and death upon ingestion.
  • Residual Activity: Additionally, it provides several weeks of control, ensuring long-lasting protection from pest infestations.
  • Wide Crop Compatibility: Furthermore, it is approved for use on a diverse array of crops, including fruits, vegetables, cotton, ornamentals, and nursery stock, making it a go-to product for different types of agricultural producers.
  • Effective Against Resistant Species: Particularly useful in managing populations of pests that have developed resistance to other chemicals, including certain mites and insects.
  • Environmental Safety: Also, Abamectin quickly degrades when exposed to sunlight and microorganisms, reducing the risk of environmental contamination.
  • Optimal Formulation: Comes in a formulation that ensures thorough coverage and absorption by plant foliage, maximizing efficacy against sucking mites.

How effective is stealth on citrus leaf miner? Richard Jermyn asked on 5 April 2025

Hey Richard,
Stealth Miticide and Insecticide, containing 18g/L Abamectin, is effective against a broad range of mites and insect pests, including those that attack citrus crops. However, its specific efficacy against citrus leafminer (Phyllocnistis citrella) is not directly mentioned in the product descriptions or guidelines. Citrus leafminer primarily targets new flush growth, and its management often relies on biological controls rather than chemical intervention.

Key Considerations for Citrus Leafminer Control:

Natural Enemies: Citrus leafminer populations are typically reduced by natural predators and parasitoids over time. Chemical control may disrupt these beneficial organisms.

Chemical Options: For high-value or young trees, insecticides containing azadirachtin or spinosad can be effective against larvae but require frequent reapplication due to short residue periods. Soil-applied imidacloprid provides longer-lasting control but should be used sparingly.

Stealth Miticide: While Stealth Miticide is effective against sucking mites and other pests through ingestion of treated foliage, its efficacy on citrus leafminer larvae within mines is uncertain. Thorough leaf coverage is essential for uptake by pests.

In conclusion, Stealth Miticide may not be the optimal choice for citrus leafminer control due to its focus on sucking mites rather than mining insects. Biological control methods or targeted insecticides like spinosad or imidacloprid are recommended for managing this pest effectively.

How long do you need to wait after an application before fruit or vegetables are safe to pick and eat? Justine Lidgett asked on 21 December 2024

Hi Justine, After applying Stealth Miticide and Insecticide, it is recommended to wait at least 7 days before harvesting and consuming fruit or vegetables. This waiting period allows the product to break down and reduces the risk of chemical residues on the produce. Always refer to the specific product label for detailed guidance on re-entry intervals and safe harvesting practices to ensure compliance with safety standards.

How often would you recommend using this on dahlias? The plants (approx 600) have had broadmite issues increasingly worse each season. Julie asked on 30 September 2024

Hey Julie,
When applying Stealth Miticide and Insecticide to Ornamental plants, do so when pest numbers are low to moderate and once application will be sufficient to give effective control, however, if mites are numerous, apply a second application 7 to 10 days later.
