Protect-us Mineral Snail and Slug Killer is a unique product that is highly effective in the control of snails and slugs. Uniquely utilising elemental iron, Protect-us Mineral Snail and Slug Killer is a low-toxic alternative to metaldehyde and methiocarb baits that displays similar or better levels of control and protection.
It has been independently reviewed and approved as garden safe. In fact, all the ingredients are currently used in either food for human consumption, pharmaceuticals or cosmetics for human applications.
Elemental iron is an essential dietary nutrient. Any residues present on fruit or vegetables, or systemically available from skin contact, are indistinguishable from the iron of environmental origin. When the bait is consumed by snails, the low pH in the snail’s gut activates the product, forming an iron salt that causes the snails and slugs to stop feeding, protecting your plants and leading to the death of the molluscs.

It's a little tricky to answer this question about Protect-Us Mineral Snail and Slug Killer without knowing the specifics of the problem area, but the general guide for using this product is as follows;
DO NOT HEAP PELLETS. Scatter pellets on the soil around or near the plants to be protected. Apply bait evenly at approximately 5g (1 level teaspoon) per square metre or 9 to 10 pellets per 20cm pot. Reapply as the bait is consumed, or atl east every 2 weeks while slugs and/or snails continue to be a problem, or following heavy watering or periods of heavy rain. All likely areas of infestation should be treated, especially the perimeter of vegetable and flower gardens, because these pests move into planted areas from surrounding daytime refuges. Evening is the best time to apply the bait as slugs and snails travel and feed mostly at night or in the early morning.

Protect-Us Mineral Snail and Slug Killer doesn't use any pesticides to kill snails and slugs, it disrupts their digestive track, making them unable to eat. If a lizard were to eat a slug that has consumed the mineral dirt I doubt this would cause any issues for the lizard.

No Protect-Us Mineral Snail and Slug Killer won't prevent them from coming into the house, it's not a repellent but it will kill them. The way this product works is when you place amongst the dirt snail and slugs will attempt to eat this causing an issue within their digestive system which prevents them from eating, and eventually killing them.
Copper can act as a repellent, as the mucus from snails and slugs causes a reaction when it comes into contact with the copper.

I’ve had a dreadful plague of snails and have collected bucket loads over the last few months. I’ve tried beer traps and caught a few but they preferred my plants. My pestrol snail bait arrived a couple of weeks ago and I’m amazed at what is now flowering. I’ll be sure to keep using it regularly. I have a small dog and feel confident that he will be safe.
