For many Australians, sharing your property with possums is a fact of life. The trees and garden are their natural habitat and as a result, they can become a nuisance on your property. By using a Possum Nesting Box – you will be providing a new home for your unwanted guest and keeping it away from the roof and your garage.
By providing possums with a safe alternative home location, we have found that in most cases you would be able to relocate noisy possums from your home.
Possums are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975 and must not be harmed in any way or kept without approval from DELWP.
It is illegal to harass or interfere with possums.
A possum in your roof or eating your flowers can be very frustrating, but people and possums can live together successfully by providing a new home for possums.

The possum boxes are made out of a BC Hardwood, Exterior grade with an A-bond (Marine) glue-line.
Pestrol Brushtail Possum Nesting Box comes flat packed and will take approximately 10 minutes to assemble. You can either install it yourself or have it done professionally.
Make sure to find an appropriate location to place Brushtail Possum Nesting Box. When looking for a location, try to ensure that the possum box is not facing North through West. Possums do not like sunlight, the box should be placed in the area where it is not exposed to full sunlight and afternoon heat. The best location should be protected from the heat, wet winds and not in an open location.
A lot of different possum species prefer heights of 4 meters to have the protection from pets and give them privacy, though 6 to 8 meters would be preferred.
Spray inside the possum house with an insect repellent, as this will act as a deterrent against bees.

Our supplier recommends to wire hang the Brushtail Possum Nesting Box, alternitavely you can mount using a coach screw.

With the Brushtail Possum Nesting Box you can wire hang it, or place on a stable surface, you would be able to mount the nesting box next to the roof.

The Brushtail Possum Nesting Box, and all of the nesting boxes in our range are made with Marine Grade Ply, this wood will not need to be treated and is already suitable to sit outside in the elements.

The Brushtail Possum Nesting Box does not have a hinge, however, installing on would be a very simple process. The panel on the front is to help give possums something to grasp on to as they climb into the entry hole. The nesting boxes can be wire hung against the tree using the small holes on the side of the box.
