PIGEON MAGNET TRAP

The Pigeon Magnet Trap is a durable, collapsible and commercial size trapping solution for reducing feral pigeon populations.

The bacteria Chlamydophila psittaci is endemic among many pigeons and causes Psittacosis in humans. It is transmitted mainly via their droppings. Psittacosis can be a very serious disease. Pigeons are also important vectors for different species of the bacteria Salmonella which causes diseases as Salmonellosis and Paratyphoid fever.

There is ample reason for the concerns of pigeons damaging property, due to their size and proximity to people and their dwellings. Pigeons often cause significant damage to their droppings.

Please note: the Food and water containers pictured are for demonstration purposes, they are not supplied with the trap.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR TRAP

Cleaning the pigeon magnet trap may be necessary between trapping programs. The trap is a high quality, powder-coated steel trap. Minimal maintenance is required, however, if significant scratches occur it is advisable to use touch up paint to protect from corrosion. It is also advisable to lubricate the door hinges often enough to ensure they move freely.

ATTRACTANT BAIT

In most situations, wheat or grain will be sufficient. However, in commercial situations where abundant food is available, you may need to try pigeon racing mix, bread, chicken layer mash or similar. Use of a variety of attractants may assist to entice the birds to enter the bird trap. You must always have fresh water in the trap to entice birds to enter and to maintain the health and moisture requirement of the birds while in the trap.

HOW MANY BIRD TRAPS SHOULD YOU USE?

This is dependent on the size of the pigeon population and the total area of land, roof size and/or facility size. When designing a trapping program, you may need several bird traps per roof or location. This will increase the number of birds caught per inspection interval. Multiple pigeon magnet traps will also reduce the number of overall visits to the site during an extended program

Where should the trap be located. I have a high set house and I am elderly femal who cannot get up on roof. Can the trap be setup on the lawn. I have about 6 pigeons who have taken up residence, they are alternating their time on my roof or in trees inbackyard Helen asked on 6 June 2024

Hey Helen,
Yes, you can set up the Pigeon Magnet Trap on your lawn instead of the roof. Choose a flat area that is easily visible to the pigeons, as they'll be more likely to enter the trap if they can see it clearly from their usual perching spots. Use an appropriate bait to attract the pigeons to the trap and ensure there's a water source inside the trap to keep them hydrated, which will make the trap more attractive to them. If you find it difficult to set up or maintain the trap yourself, you might consider asking a friend, family member, or local pest control service for assistance.

  2. Caught 9 pigeons in week 1 after free feeding for 10 days. Caught 8 more pigeons the following week. Smaller birds could get out of the cage with some effort by moving 1 spoke of the entry door. I observed 3 birds get out like this. Overall a great product. Has solved my bird droppings problem in a big way over 4 weeks.
