Different Placement: Try placing the trap in multiple spots where the rats are active, but change it up each time. Rats often follow specific paths, so try setting it near corners or along walls where they might feel more comfortable triggering the trap.
Baiting Strategy: Make sure the bait is securely attached. You might want to try a stronger-smelling bait like peanut butter combined with a bit of dried fruit or bacon. The key is to make it something irresistible so the rat has to fully engage with the trap.
Trap Orientation: Experiment with different orientations of the trap—sometimes the angle or position can make a big difference. You could place the trap so the rat has to step onto the trigger plate from a specific direction, making it harder for them to steal the food without getting caught.
Check Trap Sensitivity: Double-check that the trap is properly set and the mechanism is functioning as it should. If it's too sensitive, it might go off too easily without fully catching the rat, or if it's not sensitive enough, the rat might trigger it without triggering the snap.
