The Pestrol Possum Repeller deters possums by using ultrasonic sounds generated from the units as well as utilising a strobe light. A further optional audible setting is available if required.
With sound waves from 15kHz – 25kHz
- Pestrol possum repeller emits an ultrasonic sound (inaudible to most humans)
- Adjustable settings to change frequency.
- Uses 9v / 240V AC transformer supplied
- Weather-resistant
- Environmentally friendly.
The effective range is up to 15 metres through to 170 degrees.
How does Ultrasonic Sound deter Possums?
The primary feature of the bird & possum repeller is the ultrasonic signal. This is a high-pressure sound that is only slightly audible to humans. However, it is very effective at startling and scaring away unwanted pests. Using a variable pulse generator, the ultrasonic emits a range of fluctuating sound waves to prevent the pest from becoming accustomed to the sound.
The Pestrol Possum Away operates continuously and has the option of using the built-in motion sensor that activates the unit when animals move into its coverage area. This area size is 24 x 15 metres = 360M2. You can change the setting to be on continuously to aid in controlling smaller animals like rodents and birds.
3 mode settings
Motion Sensor: The Motion Sensor will activate the ultrasonic and sonic sounds when it detects the possum pests are in range.
Constant: The Constant setting will activate the ultrasonic and sonic noises and cycle through them at the range you fix at varying intervals. The motion detector will deactivate on this setting.
Continuous Sweep: The Continuous Sweep will activate a range of sonic and ultrasonic frequencies randomly at intervals. The motion detector will deactivate on this setting. This is helpful for repelling several different types of pests.
The Pestrol Possum Deterrent can be placed:
- around the yard

Pestrol Possum Repeller comes in a waterproof control box, which can be used outside when operated on batteries.
Battery Option
The ultrasonic repeller is also portable and can be powered with 4 x C cell batteries (not supplied)
The Pestrol Possum Repeller is designed for convenience and flexibility, and it is able to be powered with 4 x C cell batteries (not supplied) to ensure it can be placed wherever needed without reliance on mains power. The efficiency of battery usage varies based on the operational settings chosen and the frequency of activation by the motion sensor. Under typical conditions, the batteries are expected to provide power to the unit for a duration ranging from 4 to 12 weeks. This variability accounts for the natural fluctuations in pest activity and the corresponding response of the device. We recommend monitoring the device’s performance and adjusting its settings or placement as necessary to optimize battery life and effectiveness.
The possum repeller is wall mountable and comes with screws and fasteners for this purpose if required.
If you need a solar operating unit, please take a look at our Solar Animal Repeller that also utilises Ultrasonic Sound to repel various animals.

No more possums eating our trees
Hi. How can I tell if the unit is live? I’ve had the unit maybe 2 years with no possum poop on my front deck which is great, but recently have noticed poop & wondering how can I tell considering there are no lights. I’ve now checked the programming & have altered the levels so will recheck the deck in a few days.
Is there a way to check?

It works most of the time but then some mornings we see a few possum droppings. Dont understand why that is.
Birds are finally staying away from inside my sheds
We purchased this product after bush rats decided to nest under the bonnet of one of our cars. The first day we used it, Mr and Mrs Brat relocated their family a short distance away from their original home in the carport rock-wall. We saw this as a good sign.
Possum away plus mothballs got rid of possum
So far so good, possums have remained at a distance. Pigeons fly away when device is triggered. Adjusting settings and volume has helped as well as positioning.
