How soon should my Exterminator Mosquito Trap begin to control mosquitoes?

The mosquito is a common flying insect that is found around the world. There are about 2,800 different species of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes can fly about 1 to 1.5 miles per hour (1,6-2,4 km/hour).
The mosquito females drink blood and the nectar of plants; the males only sip plant nectar. When a female bites, she also injects an anticoagulant (anti-clotting chemical) into the prey to keep the victim’s blood flowing. She finds her victims by sight and smell, and also by detecting their warmth. Not all mosquito species bite humans.
The mosquito is often a carrier of diseases, such as malaria, dengue fever, encephalitis, yellow fever, West Nile virus, dog heartworm, and many others. The females, who drink blood, can carry a disease from one animal or human to another as they feed.

If your Pestrol Outdoor Exterminator Mosquito Trap isn't catching as much as it was previously, it could be due to a few different factors.
1. The local mosquito population could be a lot less dense than it was previously.
2. The bulb on the unit could be reaching the end of it's lifespan, in which case it would need to be replaced.
3. The fan could be wearing down and not spinning as fast as it once was, which would also require a replacement.

The Pestrol Outdoor Exterminator Mosquito Trap can be used outdoors and is weather resistant. The only things you would have to be mindful of is where the plug connects to the outlet, and if there is severe storms forecasted, to temporarily bring the unit undercover until it passes. But for regular rain, it will hit the top of the unit, the weather guard will make the droplets fall away from the unit's internals.

The TIO2 on the Pestrol Outdoor Exterminator Mosquito Trap shouldn't wear out for a couple of years. If you're finding mosquitoes in a new area aren't as attracted to just the UV light and the photocatalyst effect, boosters can be helpful in situations like this.

We've got a video on our youtube page, it's for an older model of the Outdoor Exterminator Mosquito Trap, but most of the steps are the same. What people generally struggle with is removing the top and middle sections of the machine in order to gain access to the globe.

When you have the top section removed, the new style of globe has a small metal clip, which you loosen with a Phillips Head screwdriver, with that out of the way, pull the old globe out and insert the new globe.

Great device. No longer do I need to sit outdoors covered in mosquito repellent.
It was quiet at first but now the fan seems slightly off centre and creates and louder humming noise. doesn’t seem to catch as many bugs

Just emptied this for the first time and I’m shocked! So full
I’ve a number of these. Whilst they seem to function and capture lots of mosquitoes and other bugs, I still need insect repellent to be protected from bites. Is it the bulb? What is the effective lifespan of the bulb?
This product works brilliantly. The company is efficient for delivery & post sales responsiveness. We were getting bitten inside our home, but could not find or see the mozzie. The 1st night we turned it on we trapped 4 mozzie. We live on the Gold Coast. It continues to trap mozzie. This product works. Highly recommended.

I bought the unit to catch moths which were making cocoons on the underside of our front & back verandah ceilings. Around 130 total over a few weeks. Impossible to remove a brown stain that was left after washing off. In the 3 weeks since I fitted the mosquito trap (which also attracts the moths), I’ve only had 1 small cocoon made on the ceiling. I bought 1 of the units to try on our front verandah, but after a week of testing, have since bought another one for the back verandah. Both ceilings had to be repainted to cover the stains, so the traps have saved a lot of time & expense.

It works well, does trap a lot of mozzies with the booster except the globe (purple lighting) stop working after a month. After that it lost the magic. The description mention the globe last for 10000 hrs but unsure it means the purple lighting or light itself??! I did aware this issue before I purchased so did buy extra globe and boosters. Great invention and happy to purchase the booster refill but the globe performance is very disappointing (at least last for a year), feels a bit like false advertising.
It seems to be very effective at catching moths but I can’t see many mosquitoes in the catch tray

The product is great and reduced the number of mozzies significantly. They should provide a spare replacement bulb with every purchase as the bulb only lasted 3 weeks.
A great addition to this would be to have a timer setting so you can run from early afternoon to morning, instead of full time. I had the the Mozzie Free Premium last time and this was going full time also but it seemed to work better. Not sure if there is less moths and mozzies around or not.
The flaps that open did not come attached and one of them has a broken end so it won’t stay on.
