Owlet Nightjar Nesting Box

The Australian Owlet-nightjar is Australia’s tiniest nocturnal bird, measuring about 23cm in length. Its plumage comes in two colours: rufous and the more common grey.

Australian Owlet-nightjars will use nest boxes as daytime roost sites all year round. Don’t just leave the box in place for the breeding season. Also,
resist the urge to lift the lid and look inside the nest box unless you observe an introduced bird moving into it. The birds will abandon their nest if you disturb them.
