Mr. Fothergill’s Chilli Can Grow Kit – This kit comes with everything you’ll need to start cultivating Carolina Reapers at home. Seeds, soil pellets, and a growing can that also serves as a container are all included in the kit.
The Carolina Reaper, dubbed the world’s hottest chilli, clocks in at 2,000,000 SHU on the Scoville Heat Units scale, and is sure to set your taste buds tingling.
WARNING – These chillies are extremely hot and should be handled with care. Do not consume whole, wear gloves when handling either seeds or fruits, avoid contact with eyes and sensitive areas and thoroughly wash hands after handling. Keep away from children and pets. These chillies should be avoided if you are pregnant, have asthma, a heart condition, skin allergies or digestive sensitivities.
How to grow:
- Make sure you have gloves on while tending to the seeds or fruit.
- Lift the ring, pulling up and back to open the top of the container.
- Take out all contents and make sure the plastic cover is secured tightly to the bottom.
- Place the soil pellets in a bowl and add 200ml of warm water. In a few minutes when the pellets have fully expanded, transfer the soil into the can.
- Plant the seeds 5mm deep and cover them with the surrounding soil.
- Place the can in a light and warm position. Keep the soil moist but do not over-water. The soil will turn light brown as it dries, indicating the need for more water.
- When plants are approx. 5cm tall, thin out to 1 strongest seedling, transplanting the remaining to other pots or the garden.
- Feed biweekly with a liquid fertiliser when fruits begin to form.
