Description

Australia's Strongest Mosquito Killer Trap

The Mosquito Eater – Mosquito Killer Trap represents a significant advancement in mosquito control technology, specifically engineered for Australian conditions. This innovative device employs a comprehensive 4-way protection system to maximize its mosquito-capturing capabilities.

The Mosquito Eater Mozzie Trap is designed to provide coverage for up to half an acre of land.

Its effectiveness stems from its ability to interrupt the mosquito breeding cycle, with noticeable population reduction typically observed within 6-8 weeks of consistent use.

By investing in the Mosquito Eater – Mosquito Killer Trap, you’re choosing a scientifically-designed solution to effectively manage mosquito populations and enhance your outdoor living experience.

Key Features

Elevated Design: The trap comes with a robust stand, positioning it at an optimal height of 1.1 meters for enhanced effectiveness.

Energy Efficiency: Consuming only 15W of electricity, this trap operates more efficiently than most standard light bulbs.

Multi-Faceted Attraction System:

  1. UV Light: A UF fluorescent bulb emits a warm light that draws flying insects towards the trap.
  2. CO2 Simulation: The trap’s surface coating of Tio2 titanium dioxide produces small quantities of CO2, mimicking human exhalation to attract biting female mosquitoes.
  3. Water-Based Lure: Unique to this model, a water tray surrounds the device, attracting mosquitoes seeking egg-laying sites.
  4. Silent Vacuum Technology: A powerful yet quiet fan efficiently collects insects into a holding chamber.

How to Use

Setup and Placement

  1. Unpack the trap and attach the stand, bringing it to a total height of 1.1 meters.
  2. Place the trap in a shaded, cool area away from other light sources, ideally 20-40 feet from your outdoor living spaces.
  3. Ensure the trap is in an open area to allow proper CO2 dispersal.
  4. Position the trap between mosquito breeding areas (standing water, bushes) and human activity areas.

Operation

  1. Fill the water tray around the trap to attract egg-laying mosquitoes.
  2. Plug the trap into a power outlet – it draws only 15W of electricity.
  3. Turn on the trap. The UF fluorescent bulb will generate warm light to attract insects.
  4. Leave the trap running continuously 24/7 during mosquito season for best results.

Maintenance

  1. Empty the retaining cage every 1-3 weeks, depending on insect population.
  2. Clean the trap regularly to ensure efficient operation.
  3. For enhanced effectiveness, consider using the optional Mosquito Booster in the holding chamber.

Tips for Success

  • Allow 6-8 weeks for the trap to reach maximum effectiveness in reducing the mosquito population.
  • The trap works by interrupting the mosquito breeding cycle, so consistent use is key.
  • For optimal results, start using the trap as soon as the weather warms up.

Precautions

Remember, while highly effective, no mosquito control method is 100% foolproof. Always take additional precautions to prevent mosquito bites when outdoors.

How do I remove the water tray to clean it? Stephanie asked on 19 November 2024

Hey Stephanie,
To remove the water tray on the Mosquito Eater, first remove the trap chamber, this will make the tray easier to remove. Grap the tray from the back and gently pull outwards, this will remove the tray from the grooves it sits in, then angle the front down and the tray will come off.

Will auto mode still work well if it's put close to a sensor light that will light up now and then? Nat asked on 27 October 2024

Hey Nat,
We recommend keeping the Mosquito Eater away from other competing light sources, as introducing light to the unit can cause 2 reactions.

1. The unit's UV globe won't be the only light source, making it less effective as a lure.

2. This could confuse the sensor on the top of the machine which would cause it to switch off.

The fan is now not working. We cleaned everything up, started it again and it spun just once before the fan rattled and stopped. We do regularly clean it and it's set up to come on only during the night time. Can't see anything that might be impeding it from spinning. Silvia Ferrari asked on 10 September 2024

Hey Silvia,
It would be hard to diagnose the issue on the Mosquito Eater remotely, but if the light is still on, then it could be the fan itself that needs to be replaced.

If your purchase is within 12-months, we can supply you with a replacement fan. Please reach out to the customer service team at [email protected] so we can assist

  1. Started to have an impact sooner then we expected.

  2. The Mosquito Eater has been humming along 24/7 since we received it. Has been going for about five weeks now. I was at first skeptical however I think it is actually reducing the mosquito population. An area that we have been unable to enjoy due to large amounts of mozzies is now insect free during the day however at night, we still need to apply mozzie spray to ourselves. It is hard for me to see any mozzies in the trap because it is absolutely full of moths. We have a large number of hibiscus that would be decimated by caterpillars at this time of year, however they are thriving. I suspect that this is due to the Mosquito Eater capturing all the moths at night that lay the larvae. Bonus!

  3. This thing really works! We live a short distance from a mangrove swamp and the mosquitos are a real problem. The day after putting the Mosquito Eater on our patio, we stopped getting bitten. We still get mosquitos on our upstairs balcony a bit, but that is two levels above.
I am not sure about the claim of a half acre coverage, but it works well for at least 15m around the trap.

I was a bit disappointed about the plasticy build quality, especially as you need to undo screws to change the UV globe (which is apparently every 6 months or so). I can see people stripping those quickly and I can’t imagine this lasting many years in an outdoor entertaining area, but it will be good while it lasts.

  4. Trap tried for about one week so far with trap completely filling with moths each night. Trapped moths attract ants. Have stopped using trap until moth numbers reduce. Difficult to know how many, if any, mosquitoes have been trapped.

  6. Bought it a few years ago. It does reduce the number of mosquitos in the area, however, UV lamp does not last long. I have to change it twice a year.

  9. Best device I ever purchased. The mozzies/moth are attracted to it all the time and night-time is mozzie free around the entire outdoor living area. First time ever I’ve been able to enjoy being mozzie free living outdoors at night. During the day, there are no flies/mites buzzing around either. The boosters really work. Really easy to clean as well. Thank you from our entire family on producing this quality device.
