You don't add water to Long Life Carpet Cleaning Powder, the drying it's referring to is because this is a quick drying moist powder.

Long LIfe Carpet Cleaning Powder 500 grams has an inoffesive odour to it, the whole jar smells very similar to sunscreen! If applied as directed, I doubt you'd have much of an odour to it at all.
