Update on our experience with this great product, trapped a second cat on the 3rd night using the same method -small cut piece of dry chinese sausage on the trip plate. Second cat was not ‘pet semetary’ feral like the first, so putting this one down to irresponsible owner. Incredibly impressed by the effectiveness of this trap. We’re now wondering just how many cats are actually using our garden as their litter tray. We’re sure to find out with this awesome trap, and finally put an end to it
Perfect solution to trap the stray cat that has been using our front garden as a litter tray every night. Simple design and easy to put together, worked as described. Problem was solved on the 2nd night, and that’s only because we didn’t use food the first night. Added a bit of dry chinese sausage on the trip plate and that did the trick. It was a rough, windy night with heavy rain, so will work in most conditions. We are so happy with the result, we are going to leave it in place, and hopefully no more scooping up disgusting cat poop in the morning.
This trap has caught 14 possums with more to come.
I use peanut butter spread on top of a halved apple
and usually catch a possum during the first night after setting the trap.
Got one of these cat reaps roughly 1 month ago. So far we haven’t managed to catch any if the 4 cats that frequent our yard, they all stop and take a sniff but none have gone in. We may have to change up our bait of choice (dog biscuits usually) to better entice them in.
We have however caught a couple of large rats, so if this continues the trap will be well worth it just from that point of view. It has been the most successful rat trap I’ve come across so far, we just upend the trap into a large bucket of water with a lid once caught.
Will trial using the latest caught rat as bait for the cats, see if that draws them in.
Not getting my hopes up though, as the cats don’t seem interested in the steadily increasing rat population in the area, only with killing the native frogs and birds..
Nice equipment and good price.
Best cat trap on the market as far as I am concerned and I have used a few
