Excessive heat or cold can severely harm your plants, especially any plants that grow produce. The Envy – Frost and Heat Plant Protectant is a frost protectant and anti-transpirant. This product can reduce moisture loss by 50% and, eliminate damage from the sun and windburn while increasing the plants’ tolerance to frost by 4 degrees. This PH neutral product biodegrades using sunlight and does not have any adverse effects on the plants’ ability to photosynthesise grow.

How Does Envy Work?

Envy functions by adhering to plant leaves, where it creates a protective yet invisible barrier that controls the plant’s moisture levels. This layer is semi-permeable, which means it allows essential gases like oxygen, carbon dioxide, and ethylene to pass through, facilitating the plant’s natural respiratory process. At the same time, it significantly reduces water and water vapor escape, helping to cut down transpiration—the process where plants release moisture into the air—by up to half if applied thoroughly on all leaf surfaces. This shield aids in safeguarding the plant from stress caused by environmental factors without disrupting its normal gas exchange cycle.

Envy Frost Protection

Envy’s protective mechanism operates through its ability to maintain plants’ water levels, which is critical for withstanding sub-zero temperatures. This state of full hydration, or turgidity, has been linked to enhanced cold endurance in plants, allowing them to survive frost conditions more effectively.

The formation of ice within plant tissues, often triggered by bacteria on the leaves, is a primary cause of freeze damage. Envy forms a barrier that physically blocks these bacteria, thereby mitigating the formation of damaging ice crystals.

When Envy sets on foliage, it creates a non-visible barrier that doesn’t interfere with the plant’s stomata—tiny openings used for gas exchange—thus ensuring that the plant’s breathing process remains uninterrupted, and it continues to photosynthesize efficiently.

One of the key advantages of Envy is its water-based composition, which adheres to the foliage without causing harm even if used in quantities exceeding the recommended dose. This is in contrast to solvent-based products, which carry a risk of chemical damage to the plant.

Moreover, Envy is formulated to leave plants looking natural post-application. It dries quickly, within 15 minutes or less, without leaving a sticky residue or an unnatural gloss, preserving the plant’s aesthetic appearance while providing robust protection.

Application: 

• All anti-transpirant spray applications must be applied for full coverage or used as a dip.
• Do not apply Envy during the time of flowering as it may act as a barrier to pollination.
• Apply Envy 24 hours before adverse weather conditions are expected. Needs a minimum of 4 hours of sunlight to dry. Use Foliar fertilisers or pesticides before or 2 weeks after Envy application as it may inhibit the absorption of some products.
• Avoid foliar application when ambient air temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius.
