Use a well-cultivated soil for this versatile variety of Beetroot. Ideal to eat fresh, pickled or cooked, these Beetroots have a great flavour and grow very easily. Grow this fine flavoured variety with the DT Brown Beetroot Detroit Seeds. Also ideal for deep freezing. The Detroit Beetroot is very healthy for you and is considered a superfood.
Sow seeds 1in deep in rows 1ft apart from one another. Keep the soil moist. Sow the seeds thinly and repeat at intervals for succession. Thin them out to 4in when they are large enough to handle. Harvest: Don’t cut leaves but twist them off as this will prevent bleeding. Plant them in late winter – autumn and harvest in 10-12 weeks of sowing.
