Controls aphids, mealy bugs, scale, thrips, whitefly, and other sucking insects on ornamentals, roses, and vegetables. Contendor belongs to a new chemical group, so it is excellent to use in a spray program with other insecticides, as it controls pests resistant to older formulations.

Contendor Systemic Insecticide works effectively on Azaleas through its dual-action formula. When applied to Azaleas, the insecticide is absorbed through the foliage and moves throughout the plant's system. This systemic action allows the active ingredient, Imidacloprid, to be distributed internally, providing protection from the inside out.
For Azaleas specifically, Contendor targets the Azalea Lace Bug, a common pest that affects these plants
The insecticide works in two ways:
1. Systemic protection: As the plant absorbs the chemical, it becomes toxic to insects that feed on the plant tissue, including the Azalea Lace Bug
2. Contact action: The spray also works on contact with insects present on the plant's surface.
To use Contendor on Azaleas, apply the ready-to-use spray thoroughly on the foliage, including the undersides of leaves where pests often hide. For persistent infestations, you may need to repeat applications every 7 to 14 days.
It's important to note that Contendor should not be applied to Azaleas when they are in bloom, as it can be harmful to bees

Contendor Systemic Insecticide can be used on tropical plants, but, you should avoid spraying Contendor indoors. If your plants need to be treated, our supplier recommends relocating the plants outside first, treating them, and then bringing them back inside once the solution has dried completely.

The list of pests that Contendor Systemic Insecticide 1L will control includes: Aphids, Scale, Thrips, Whiteflies, Azalea Lace Bug, Hibiscus Flower Beetle, Mealy Bugs, Psyllids, and Sap Sucking Bugs.
Lilly Pilly Beetles are not mentioned anywhere on the packaging for insects controlled.

However, it is not specifically labeled for controlling hibiscus leaf mites. Mites often require targeted miticides for effective control. Products containing active ingredients like abamectin, bifenthrin, or horticultural oils might be more suitable for managing mite infestations

My indoor plants have a spider mite problem that I’ve been tackling for weeks. This product definitely kills the buggers, but I’m finding I need to spray more often than directed. I have found that a thorough spray of the entire plant, followed by a spray of the soil every 3-5 days is the best way to control spider mites. Still haven’t been able to eradicate them but their numbers are getting smaller and smaller. Just requires VERY regular use of systemic insecticide.
