Biotrap QLD Female Fruit Fly Trap
The attractant gel is proven to be effective in attracting the female fruit fly. To use the kit, simply squeeze 50mls of gel into the base of the trap, and place the sticky insert inside the trap. The trap should then be hung within the foliage of a tree at a height of approximately 1.2 – 1.5 meters. Each trap should be 15 meters apart from the others.
The attractant gel will need to be replenished after 3 months or earlier in hotter weather.
Keep the female traps as far away from the male trap as possible.

For my needs these are perfect. Fruit fly/pumpkin fly (same thing I found out) were destroying my pumpkins.
I’m a home grower but had dozens and dozens of pumpkins on and they were getting stung and impregnated with eggs then larvae.
All fruit has to be bagged and binned as you can’t even compost or bury it because the cycle won’t stop.
I bought 3 originally for an area of about 10m x 3m plus the pumpkins are growing in trellises above that so there’s quite a large area.
It took awhile and I ended up putting in heaps of the attractant (female fruit fly traps) and have had a high success rate.
I just bought 2 more traps as I’ve 2 more pumpkin patches seperate to the 1st one I mentioned and now they’re getting attacked.
Highly recommend them, if anything perhaps go more traps rather than less but that’s only my point of view.
